10 Shocking Twists That Would Improve Major TV Shows

1. Ted's Neverending Story Ends In The Apocalypse €“ How I Met Your Mother

This is the only entry on the list that was not my idea €“ it was actually suggested several times by costar Jason Segel. Basically, the premise of the idea is that as soon as Ted finishes his story, the camera pans over to the window in the apartment that his kids are in to show that the world has fallen into chaos in the years after the story's conclusion and Ted's children now live in a post-apocalyptic hellscape. Sure, it wouldn't exactly match the upbeat and romantic tone of the show, but after HIMYM's long walk to mediocrity, wouldn't it be exciting to see the show go out in a blaze of glory? At this point everyone is sort of expecting something to happen with the mother that is relatively unexpected despite the show's insistence that Ted really will find his Mrs. Right by the end of this season. A lot of people expect Robin and Barney won't get married, so Ted will eventually pair up with her again anyway. I don't think that's the case. I think the show really has committed to the Cristin Milioti character being the mother of the two children Ted is talking to in every single episode. So instead of changing yet another aspect of Ted's infinitely complicated love life, they should change the world that Ted is in by ending it. Just because it's a sitcom on a major network doesn't mean it has to play it safe. Hey, maybe his kids could even be the next group of survivors on The Walking Dead.
