10 Times Larry David Went Too Far On Curb Your Enthusiasm
8. Bad Language
Curb Your Enthusiasm is a show on which ideas can be exchanged frankly, and with language as colourful as you desire. Season two primarily sees Larry attempting to get a new project off the ground with Seinfeld alumni, and as he discusses with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the new show would ideally be on HBO (Curb’s network), as you can say what you want.
Well, to a degree. During a friendly poker game, an acquaintance of Larry’s folds, later revealing that he was holding a promising hand. The table mock and revile him for this, and Larry lets the moment get the better of him, slapping the table and twice yelling the C word in a jocular (but quite aggressive) fashion.
It’s a mood killer. Larry misjudged the room, and went in two footed with a top tier swear word, ruining the night. He argues the toss, but no one will take his side - he crossed a line, caught up in the moment.
It’s hardly Larry’s worst impropriety, but it’s one many viewers can empathise with. In his head, deploying the C word was no big deal, but as soon as it leaves his mouth, he sees how wrong he was.
