10 TV Show Characters Who Deserve Their Own Spin-Offs
3. Uncle Iroh From Avatar: The Last Airbender
Look, I know that Avatar: The Last Airbender had a spinoff with Legend of Korra, but that doesn't matter. That's because I specifically want to know everything about Uncle Iroh’s life before meeting him in The Last Airbender. Because, while the series had many notable characters, we all know who the true star was.
Uncle Iroh was the older brother to the main villain of the series Fire Lord Ozai (voiced by Mark Hamill). He was the true heir to the fire throne but was a kind and intelligent man who had no lust for power. After suffering a great loss with the death of his son, Iroh changed for the better and gained a new perspective on the fire nation’s war.
A show about a young Iroh would allow us to meet his son, see his relationship with his brother Ozai, and to experience his journey on becoming a better man. We know that Iroh joined the White Lotus to fight back against the fire nation, wouldn’t it be cool to see the origins of that club?
We’d get to see some serious action sequences as all the club members were strong benders and fighters. Not to mention that Iroh also discovered and hid the last remaining dragons that were being hunted out of existence by the fire nation. This would make for a great story arc.
Uncle Iroh’s journey of going from an evil fire nation prince to an honourable man of the world would also explain why he was so dedicated to ensuring that his nephew Zuko (voiced by Dante Basco) followed him on that same path from the original series.
Talk about full circle.
