11 Famous Faces You Never Knew Were Doctor Who Fans
3. Stephen Hawking
As one of the most famous physicists of the last century, Stephen Hawking is another self confessed Doctor Who fan whose scientific brain seemlessly lends itself to the more mathematical aspects of the Time Lord's ongoing adventures. He's never been one to keep quiet about his undivided devotion to the Doctor, either, and most recently he contributed to the anticipation surrounding the build up of Peter Capaldi's casting by revealing that he thinks it's time for a female incarnation to take over the TARDIS. It looks like Stephen will have to wait a little longer for that but in the meantime he's no doubt revelling in the more sciency-wciency mantra that the show has adopted over the last previous years under the watchful eye of its current head writer Steven Moffat. According to reports, the showrunner has even approached Stephen for a cameo, but this is something that is yet to come to any kind of fruition. Stephen would be a welcome edition to the show's plethora of guest stars, though, and his knowledge and wit would probably serve as a match for even the Doctor. If Stephen's ever too busy working on the gravitational singularity theorems in the framework of general relativity, though, the BBC could always enlist the help of Eddie Redymane, instead, whose portrayal of Hawkings in The Theory of Everything has put him in line to win his first Academy Award at next year's Oscars. So, you know. Just putting that out there.
