12 Things Agents Of SHIELD Needs To Fix For Season 2

3. A Bigger Budget So We Can Forget It's A TV Show

As much as Lola, Phil Coulson's flying convertible, is a fantastic idea and a symbol of exactly what the show should be most of the time - a crazy sci-fi procedural about super-spies with mad technology who get into mind-bending scrapes with super-terrorists, aliens and wizards -it's safe to say that most of the time we've seen it in action it's looked a bit naff, a complaint that can also be levelled at most of the bigger action/CG sequences in the show's first season. The fact is that ABC clearly want a Marvel mini-movie in every episode, but haven't given the producers nearly enough money to make that anything close to a real possibility. If the network wants to convince its audience that it's serious about making a series set in a world of capes and flying suits of armor then it either needs to make Agents of SHIELD a decidedly more low-key affair about the intricacies and hidden secrets of that world (which it probably won't) or give the show's makers enough money to convince everyone that these characters exist in the same universe that sees oil rigs, city blocks and even whole towns obliterated on a regular basis.
