13 Doctor Who Guest Stars Who Were Tragically Underused
7. Lee Evans
As one of Britain's most successful and celebrated comedians, Lee Evans was always going to bring a certain level of comedic value to his Doctor Who guest role as UNIT's bumbling scientific advisor Malcolm Taylor. As it turns out, though, his character was far more than just a caricature and his appearance in the 2009 Easter Special, Planet of the Dead, was one of episode's stand out performances (admittedly that wasn't very hard given the rest of its lacklustre line up, but Lee would've stolen the show regardless). As such, he was tragically underused as the whimsical Welshman because he possessed a genuine affection for the Doctor which is always heartwarming and inspiring for the show's fans to see. What's more, he was just fun - in the truest sense of the word - which is what Doctor Who needs more of its in current realisation. You can just imagine him stepping out of the TARDIS and standing on a butterfly that leads to the extinction of the human race or something, but all he'd have to do is push his glasses up his nose and he'd have us wrapped around his fingers. Lee's just retired from comedy so maybe he'd have time to commit to something more long term? Probably not but it never hurt to dream (the events of Last Christmas aside).
