15 Best Sci-Fi TV Shows Of The 2010s

9. Westworld

Black Mirror Palytest
HBO

A show that, in many ways, has taken over from Game of Thrones in the cinematic spectacle department, Westworld regularly pushes the boundaries of television with its stunning visuals and its larger-than-life performances, making it a totally immersive experience and one of the few remaining shows that should absolutely be watched during its first airing.

If you're unfamiliar with it (but why, though?), it's based on the eponymous 1973 Michael Crichton film and centers on a Wild West-themed amusement park in which wealthy clients can essentially buy their wildest, weirdest and most troubling fantasies - all carried out by human-looking android hosts who are specifically programmed not to harm humans.

As with many technology-reliant concepts, it forces us to ask questions about our own reliance on it, induces a little fear about what would happen if they became self-aware, and just downright amazes us with the performances that unfold right before our eyes.
