30 TV Shows That Will Kick-Ass In 2018

A new TV show taking a year off after its debut season isn't necessarily ideal, but it does mean Westworld's eventual return this year will be well-hyped.

The series is HBO's big hope for both the present, in a year without Game of Thrones, and the future, which also has a lack of Westeros in it (pending the success of spin-offs).

Luckily, it has a lot of the tools to be the cable channel's next big thing. It's a grand spectacle with lush visuals and big questions about humanity and artificial intelligence, and Season 2 begins in the midst of a thrilling robot uprising that should lead to even more exciting storytelling.

The show could do with investing more in character and narrative than merely setting up plot twists and theories, which Season 1 did too much at times, but as an epic TV series there's probably no better this year than Westworld.
