8 Cleverest TV Series Finale Titles

1. Felina - Breaking Bad

The Sopranos
AMC

Each Breaking Bad season ends with a rather intelligent episode title, with Face Off and ABQ obviously coming to mind. However, Felina is much more powerful than just being an anagram for 'finale.'

For starters, Felina is a reference to Marty Robbin's 1959 single named El Paso. The song illustrates the story of a cowboy who falls in love with a woman named Felina, before eventually getting shot and killed by his enemies. Walter White sings the song to himself while setting up the turret gun contraption he uses to later kill Jack and his gang, before saving Jesse.

The song is not just representative of Walt's closing moments as New Mexico's most notorious drug kingpin. Felina is also Spanish for 'feline' or 'catlike.' This is evocative of Walt's constant attempts to evade the law while concocting his schemes, in addition to his proverbial nines lives finally running out upon his death at the end of the finale.

Vince Gilligan and company perfected the storytelling process with Breaking Bad, and crafted a series finale that was not just universally beloved by all, but by also including a finale title with maximized poignancy.
