8 Cleverest TV Series Finale Titles

2. -30- The Wire

The Sopranos
HBO

The worlds of law enforcement and the media in TV are often intertwined. The Wire showcases this to dramatic effect, with the journalistic term '-30-' being used to signify the end.

The show, suitably created by former journalist and police reporter David Simon, often gave an in-depth look at the daily lives and roles of law enforcement in Baltimore, Maryland. The final season took this concept a step further, by providing insight into the roles that journalists and reporters had within the city.

Although the finale title suggests that the story arcs may have come to a conclusion, The Wire continues to be a thought-provoking show in subsequent years. The finale offered a critique on just how modern journalistic practice isn't as clearcut as one would assume. Characters such as Scott Templeton receive praise and accolades for their falsified stories, while others such as Augustus Haynes are punished for speaking up for their ideals.

-30- is an expression used to effectively end the story of the Baltimore Sun and media as presented within the final season. The subsequent, real-life discussion, however, continues to this day.
