8 TV Shows We Already Know Are Coming To An End In 2014

1. Boardwalk Empire

Is it a good thing the show is ending? Yes. End Times: Late Fall As you can probably tell by this article saying that it's a good thing that most of these shows are ending, I think it's better for a show to leave too early than to overstay its welcome (the American version of The Office can attest to that). I'm a huge Boardwalk Empire fan and I think that they are coming off their best season yet, particularly with the increased inclusion of Michael K. Williams' Chalky White, but it's better to end on a high note. Nucky Thompson and his gang of bootleggers are likely to face a new villain in the guise of J. Edgar Hoover this season, and my guess is that Michael Shannon's Nelson Van Alden character is only going to have a temporary excursion into lawlessness. Boardwalk Empire has been keen to neatly wrap up various storylines at the end of the season, but last season left a lot of balls in the air. Jeffrey Wright's Valentin Narcisse has been emasculated by the FBI, but he is neither gone nor forgotten. Moreover, the Chicago and Atlantic City stories, which have been happening parallel to each other up to this point, seem to be coming to a head. The last season should be epic, and hopefully the show ends at the perfect time. Less is often more, and the cancellation gives Boardwalk the opportunity to remain the tightly-wound show it's always been.
