For every Doctor Who fan, the broadcast of a brand new episode is basically like Christmas come early (unless they're watching a Christmas Special, of course, in which case it's a double whammy of excitement!). As such, there is surely no better time to ring them than during that precious 45 minutes on a Saturday evening in which every Whovian is strictly off guard. Perhaps you've got a new pet cat who just rolled over for the first time, which your friend simply has to know about, although the foolproof "What you doing?" is always a guaranteed way to send a Doctor Who fanatic down a dark pathway of unfathomable frustration. It's not your fault, of course. You're just ringing to check up on your friend. Besides, if they don't want to be disturbed, it serves them right for not putting their phone on silent. You have every right to inundate their iPhone with messages relating to your foray of life-affirming issues. Just don't expect the call to last more than 10 seconds, is all.
