3. The Toys That Made Us

If you're obsessed with toys, cartoons and/or the 1980s and 90s, this documentary series is an absolute must watch.

Over 12 episodes, The Toys That Made Us tells the stories of some of the most iconic toy brands in history. G.I. Joe. Barbie. Masters of the Universe. The behind the scenes realities of the business that built these toy lines that are still popular today are surprisingly engaging. In particular, what led to huge lines like the vast Star Wars merchandising machine that has only grown under Disney's reign are particularly interesting.

The Toys That Made Us is not only about toys but pop culture overall. While there are numerous documentaries about pop culture, few do as good a job at looking at it from this angle.
