American Horror Story: The Best Character Of Each Season So Far

American Horror Story's fifth season, Hotel features a variety of characters who could have appeared here, including Evan Peters' serial killer James Patrick March and Lady Gaga's seductive vampire The Countess.

Despite the competition, though, the best character of the season has to be Liz Taylor, the Hotel Cortez's transgender bartender who acts as a friendly ear to the building's patrons. She also seems to be the only resident of the hotel who isn't entirely driven by revenge or inhuman impulses.

Throughout the season, she's portrayed as sincere, secretive and genuinely good-natured, but doesn't take centre stage until the finale, where she attempts to stop the hotel's murderous ghosts from killing people and it becomes clear just how much the killers have come to care for her.

Played by a career-best Denis O'Hare, Liz Taylor is far from the most extravagant character the show has ever conceived, but she's nonetheless one of its most endearing and memorable, and serves as the heart and soul of the season.
