Doctor Who: 25 Actors Who'd Make Great Companions

16. Tommy Knight

Already a companion in the Sarah Jane Adventures, Tommy Knight's Luke is a familiar face in the Whoniverse. But what about giving him a chance on the flagship show? It would be a nice chance to say goodbye to Sarah Jane, rewarding fans of the spin-off who know about Knight's character Luke Smith, and introducing a new set of fans to the show. He's a child genius, a character that would probably enjoy some amusing clashes with the Doctor, and there would be nostalgic references to be made that fans would love. Russell T Davies planned a future for the character; he had intended for Luke to come out as gay, before the show was cancelled with Sarah Jane apparently going to remark that as long as he didn't date a Slitheen, she didn't mind.

15. Jennifer Lawrence

We can dream, can't we? When asked what he'd love to see most in the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who, Matt Smith replied "Jennifer Lawrence". A lot of the fandom would probably love to see her in the show too; she's funny, vulnerable and gutsy, and she'd probably have a fantastic relationship with the Doctor; that's without mentioning the attention she'd draw to the show. It seems though that she'll be too busy and far too famous to ever appear in Doctor Who; she's the most in-demand actress in Hollywood, and starring in the next two Hunger Games films will probably be much more attractive an offer than nine months a year shooting in Cardiff.
