3. 'Magic of the Angels' by Jacqueline Rayner
There is always something interesting in a story like this. Published just months before Amy and Rory were flung backwards in time by a Weeping Angel's glare, this book also features these companions and monster. For me, each companion has had encounters that epitomises their time on the show. For example, for Rose this came in the form of her numerous experiences with Daleks. Martha's run was summed up for me by her walk across the world as she worked to save the world from the Master. Donna's defining moment came early in the series when she begged the Doctor to save a life in Pompeii. The most memorable aspect of Amy's time on the show for me, especially when looking back after her exit, was her experiences with the Weeping Angels. By adding another layer to that story, this book is a perfect addition to the show's backstory. This book as a 'Quick Read' is probably not suitable to become a full episode though it would be interesting to see an extended look at it. An interesting way to do this would be similar to the scene in which Rory sends a letter to his dad which was not filmed, but instead recorded as a series of drawings with voice-over. A slightly more innovative technique such as this might be very interesting, especially for fans who haven't had the opportunity to read this great story.
