Doctor Who: 10 Best Episodes To Get You Into The Classic Series

6. The Time Warrior

Attack Of The Cybermen Doctor Who
BBC

The Time Warrior is another example of a quintessential Doctor Who episode. A pseudo historical romp with the first appearance of the Sontarans, Sarah Jane Smith, the first time Gallifrey is referred to by name, this story has it all. Lynx The Sontaran is intimidating and has an interesting, somewhat original plan that doesn’t just involve invading Earth.

Sarah Jane is as loveable as she is in the revived series and in her spin-off show, and what better than to see how she became one of the longest-serving companions of all time. The Time Warrior feels like it could be an episode of the revived series with its excellent costume, set design, and great acting - with the possible exception of a few over the top knights.

While not as praised as much as other episodes in the classic series, the Time Warrior is a great story to introduce someone to Classic Who. As a fast-paced and action-packed story with a famous monster and fan-favourite companion, this is a must-watch for anyone who isn’t certain that the Classic series is for them.
