Doctor Who: 10 Choices For The Next Showrunner

1. Neil Gaiman

Why He Should: Gaiman is among the brightest minds working in the business right now. The first episode he wrote for Doctor Who, The Doctor's Wife, is easily one of the best episodes of NuWho, while his second escapade, Nightmare in Silver, managed to make the Cybermen scary again, even if the episode as a whole is quite uneven. Both episodes are wild fun, and visually stunning, and Gaiman€™s track record outside of Doctor Who is practically flawless. His novels, highlighted by American Gods, are all fantastic, and fans are drooling at the prospect of a Sandman movie. Gaiman€™s creativity and ingenuity would blend spectacularly with what Doctor Who can offer, and his selection would undoubtedly make the show feel fresh again. Why He Shouldn€™t: Gaiman is essentially the British Guillermo del Toro. The man is incredibly busy as of right now, and seems to prefer working on multiple projects at once, rather than just focusing on one project for a lengthy period of time. Also, his maniacal writing style may grow tiresome over the course of a season, but Whovians would still be no doubt thrilled to see his creativity at work. The overriding verdict? Very unlikely, but it would certainly be an exciting move. What are your thoughts? Who would be your choice to take over after Moffat? Someone on this list, or a dark horse?
