Why He Should: Whats interesting about Chibnalls writing for Doctor Whois that it seems to have regressed over the years. His first work, Series 3's 42, is an intensely-paced episode with a real-time gimmick that makes it hugely addictive to watch. Dinosaurs on a Spaceship is also an extremely fun episode, although it does have a strangely dark ending. Broadchurch, Chibnalls major piece of work outside of Doctor Who(though it also stars our beloved David Tennant) has been a hit, with an American remake in the can and a second UK series on its way. Chibnall therefore does have the showrunning experience that would make him a sensible choice for the BBC. Why He Shouldnt: As aforementioned, Chibnalls work on Doctor Who has seemed to get worse over time. His two parter, The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood, is all too forgettable, while The Power of Three seeminglyforgot to have an ending. Whovians are not too fond of his work, and the fan backlash over his appointment would most likely be the fiercest reaction to anyone on this list (barring Steve Thompson). Hes also hard work at work on series two of Broadchurchand a possible second season of Gracepoint, so Chibnall appears to be fully booked up for the foreseeable future, at least.
