7. The Synopsis
The official synopsis reads as follows:
The Doctor and Clara face their Last Christmas. Trapped on an Arctic base, under attack from terrifying creatures, who are you going to call? Santa Claus!
In fact there isnt much to be gleaned from this. Its a given that a Christmas Special, and one which features Santa, would be based in an icy setting and the Doctor is always under attack from monstrous threats. Nothing new there. But the icy setting is quite intriguing. The teaser released for Children In Need reveals that the story takes place at the North Pole - are viewers going to glimpse inside Santa's workshop? And if so, why are monsters rising from beds inside? That would certainly give a horrifying spin on the narrative by implicating Santa in the mentor's ploy. And then theres the hint of their last Christmas and the appearance of Santa - both of which have already been released. That said, it sounds like a hellish ride is in store for viewers, as cheesy as the inclusion of Santa Clause may be.
