Doctor Who: 25 Actors We'd Love To Call The Doctor

12. Harry Lloyd

Harry Lloyd Doctor Who Here's a note to all you Americans reading this: hi. I'm sorry, I was joking about conning you. And also, we have more than about 15 actors in this country. I promise. Harry Lloyd is another actor that appeared in Doctor Who, this time in the incredible 'Human Nature'/'Family of Blood'. But unlike many adversaries of the revived show, played by actual humans, Lloyd was absolutely terrifying. Scarier than the Master, engrossing to watch, and yet with a glint in his eye, like he really was an all-powerful being from outer space. Russell T Davies suggested he should be the Doctor one day. Doctor Who with him in lead role would be amazing, but my word I'd spend most of it behind the sofa.

11. Damien Malony

If you've never heard of Damien Malony, it's understandable. He's fairly young, and hasn't appeared in much else besides Toby Whithouse's brilliant Being Human and Ripper Street, both on the BBC. The impact he's had though has led many to claim he'd make a great Doctor, not least my WhatCulture colleague Edward Owen, who claimed he would've been his pick for Twelve. He's a fascinating talent, dark, mercurial and a rising star who could end up playing the Fifteenth or Twentieth Doctor, he really has got that much of a career ahead of him. Maybe if Whithouse if ever given the head-writership...
