Doctor Who: 6 Biggest Dalek Disappointments Of The New Series

1. Every. Dalek. Ever.

Steven Moffat increased the hype for Series 7's opener Asylum of the Daleks by promising that every Dalek ever seen in the show would appear. In hindsight, he was probably trying to deflect attention away from the real surprise of the episode, which was Jenna Coleman's appearance as Oswin Oswald half a series before she would take over as full-time companion Clara. However, as more reports came in of the production team acquiring old Dalek costumes and models, fans got more and more excited. This was going to be huge.

And then the episode aired.

Sure, every Dalek was technically in it. But the older models were relegated to the shadows as they wouldn't hold up in HD, and so the focus was more on some of the newer versions instead. Most of the Daleks shown were battered-looking versions of the chrome design preferred throughout most of the new series.

This disappointed a lot of fans who had been eagerly buying into the hype and who couldn't wait to see all the different Dalek designs finally brought together on Doctor Who. Of course, buying into hype is a dangerous game, but the interviews and media coverage before the episode made it seem like all the Daleks ever would be the focus. When that turned out not to be the case, you can't blame some fans for feeling disappointed.

What did you think of this list? Are there any other disappointing NuWho Dalek moments that should've been included? Let us know in the comments section below!
