Doctor Who: 8 Characters Maisie Williams Might Be Playing

5. Missy

OK, so we spoke too soon on that one. Michelle Gomez managed to tear the stratosphere of the Doctor Who fandom apart (and then some) when she was revealed as a female incarnation of the Master at the end of the last series. She well and truly began her tyranny of terror as she meant to go on by raising her own army of Cyber-corpses which she then proceeded to give to the Doctor as a belated birthday present. No, seriously. So, that was the Series 8 finale in a Netherspheric nutshell... but what happens next!? Well, she'll be back with a vengeance in the Series 9 premiere, for starters (a two-parter, written by Steven Moffat, called The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar), at the end of which she'll trip over a brick and regenerate into Maisie Williams for apparently no reason whatsoever. Well, according to some hopeful theorists, anyway. Needless to say, Maisie probably won't be playing the next incarnation of Missy, since Steven Moffat caused a right old ruckus the first time he gave one of the Doctor's greatest adversaries a sex change, and Michelle Gomez is only just getting started, anyway, so let's not call for her departure just yet. Come on, say something nice...
