Doctor Who: 8 Characters Maisie Williams Might Be Playing
4. A Teenage Clara
Because why the hell not!? This is the person who once jumped into the Doctor's time stream to save the lives of all of his previous incarnations, for Goodness sake, so apparently the sky's the limit for this impossibly impossible girl. It's plausible, then (at least, within the confines of the outlandish Doctor Who universe, where anything is plausible), that Maisie Williams will be portraying the Doctor's current companion as a teenager. It would make some sort of relative sense, too. Fans saw Clara Oswald as an old woman in Last Christmas (OK, so it was yet another dream state, but it still counts, OK!?), so seeing a younger version of her would seemingly be the next logical step. The Doctor has already met her as a young child, of course, in this random Series 7 'prequel' (which, if nothing else, affirms why you should never speak to strangers...), and apparently none of us would notice that the teenage Clara has a completely different face, personality and looks like that girl who's always killing people in Game of Thrones. Like we said, anything can happen. The fact that Maisie's episodes are "period adventures" is interesting, too, since there's fragmented versions of Clara scattered throughout time. An episode featuring two versions of her would probably push some fans over the edge, though, particularly the ones who have written the show off as 'Clara Who' since her initial debut, death, subsequent return, subsequent death, grand comeback and... well, the rest is history, really. Her eyes were even featured in the opening titles for one episode last year, which was controversial to say the very least...
