Doctor Who: 9 Reasons Why Peter Jackson Directing Is A Brilliant Idea

2. He Is Not Afraid To Take Risks

€œLord of the Rings€ was an enormously delicate undertaking and if it had gone badly could well have meant the end of the director€™s career. Jackson had to fight to create a trilogy rather than a single film, only succeeding after making a last minute deal with New Line. Filming an episode of Doctor Who is inherently tricky. You€™re working on a small budget, with a fantastic story and emotion driven plot that all needs to be delivered in about 45 minutes. It€™s not for the faint-hearted. You have to really care about your material in order to put yourself through that. Peter Jackson€™s dedication to his art is evident in all his work. His films may sometimes be flawed but they never lack heart. Give me passion over commercialism any day. You have to be willing to take the Doctor right up to the very edge of disbelief and sometimes beyond, no matter how ridiculous it sounds on paper, or you risk losing the epic quality of his tale.
