Every moment discussed thus far has had a great degree of sentiment about them, but also the classic tongue-in-cheek humour of the series. While they have all affected the viewers emotionally, they also got plenty of laughs, but that wasn't the case with this one. It was an entirely surreal moment where the show turned into something completely different.

"Mac Finds His Pride" follows the odd pairing of Mac and Frank, as the latter tries to convince him to be part of the gay pride parade for Paddy's. However, Mac's unconvinced as he's not sure how to feel about his identity as a gay man and still hasn't come out to his father.

Throughout the episode, Mac plants seeds that he's concocting a way to come out on his terms, with something that combines his repressed religious ideals and latent homosexuality. But, Frank doesn't understand what he's saying at all, claiming "I don't get the whole gay thing".

Then the episode closes with a stunning - and spontaneous - dance routine from Mac and professional ballerina Kylie Shea, which he uses to come out to his father. It's a touching performance full of emotion and a flawless job from Rob McElhenney. It's made even more moving by DeVito's beautiful performance, especially when he utters the words "I get it".
