It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: 10 Most Emotional Moments
6. Frank's Breakdown (The Gang Gets Analysed)
Like the previous entry, this one is just as tragic and funny as it is emotional. Still, it goes one step beyond by adding a dark past to Frank Reynolds and even giving us a heartfelt moment where he finally opens up about his traumatic childhood.
It's safe to say that every gang member needs therapy, as they're all ignoring issues they should be dealing with, but Frank seems the most unstable of them all. This episode thaws that out, as each character puts time in with a therapist. For the most part, it's what you'd expect, as Mac is confused and anxious, Dee is deluded, and Charlie is, well, Charlie. But things get emotional when you get to Frank.
The segment starts off in classic Reynolds fashion, as he undermines the therapist's authority and makes a mess. But, once she pries him with some questions, he reveals how he spent his childhood in a school for the mentally disabled and the horrors he experienced there.
Seeing Frank open up and the flawless performance from Danny DeVito caught everyone off guard, and while the moment was hilarious, it also brought in some genuinely emotional subject matter.
