It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: The Worst Episode From Every Season

11. Season 4 - The Gang Cracks The Liberty Bell

No surprises here. The infamy of this episode still reeks almost ten seasons later and was a concerning sign for the show's future. Thankfully it didn't tank the series, but it certainly could have.

In this episode, the gang attempts to get Paddy's officially labelled as a landmark by convincing the Philadelphia Historical Society that it was responsible for the cracking of the liberty bell. As they tell their story, we "flashback" to the events they're detailing.

As the first episode to play with the format and cut to an entirely new style, this one had a lot riding on it, and it didn't succeed. The humour misses the mark entirely, as Always Sunny's crude and gritty dialogue feels altogether out of place in this setting, making it come across as awkward.

Plus, they run with the narrative of Dee seducing Cricket for a second time, with barely any alterations from "The Gang Exploits a Miracle". This means that not only did the episode jump the shark, but it was also repetitive, making for a strange cocktail of cheesiness and boredom.
