In case anyone forgot, Ken Cosgrove suddenly got shot in the eye in the penultimate episode of the last season, and we still have our reminder in the form of his eye patch. Will he have it for the rest of the final season? We'd imagine so, unless the Mad Men universe suddenly gives way to the bionic eye.
20. Don's Entrance
First we see him finishing off his shave, but this is Don's real entrance. And it's beautiful. He's at an airport. Where? LA. Why? To visit Megan. What is this? Why, it's a scene from little-known 1997 Tarantino heist film Jackie Brown: Although you can't see from this picture, Pam Grier's eponymous entrance in Jackie Brown follows her moving along a travelator just like this Mad Men scene, and the background is strikingly similar also. Surely the folks over at Mad Men intended this reference, so could it be a precursor to the final season? We'll have to wait and see.
19. Megan's Entrance
And then Megan returns, in stunning form. Coming out of a beautiful convertible in a beautiful (if a little skimpy) dress, she greets her husband in style, with a welcome smooch. Is this to mean that they've passed their issues, which left Don's life so empty when we last saw him? Once again, we'll have to wait to find that out, but a moment later suggests not...
18. Peggy Sees Ted Return
In the "Previously on Mad Men" we were reminded about Ted's change of heart between deciding to leave his wife for Peggy and moving his family to California, ending their relationship. And now here he is, back in New York, right in front of Peggy. So how does she react? As anyone would - with a look of terror and a closing blind. Back to the meeting at hand.
17. The Awkward Dinner
Here comes the introduction of Megan's agent, Alan Silver. Right from the get-go, Alan makes the situation tense by suggesting that Don should be wary of him, then making a sly comment about Megan's teeth. Alan is by far the most humorous of our new characters, and we're sure to see him again as we re-visit Megan throughout the season.
16. Dan Byrd
It's always strange to see a baby-faced twenty-something play an adult, rather than the supposed teens of Glee and, the show from which Dan Byrd hails, Courtney Cox's Cougar Town. Here he plays Wayne Barnes, a fresh-out-of-business-school new generation of New York executive, threatening to withdraw his company's business from our Mad Men.
I'm a British filmmaker (or, at least, trying to be) and about to graduate with a Film Studies degree. Most of the time I should spend working is actually on Netflix so I obviously have loads of life experience to share with you lovely people.
