6. No Time For New Parents

Let He Who Is Without Sin is one of the few episodes of Deep Space Nine in which Nana Visitor didn't appear. She was giving birth to her son, Django, so her character was written out of the episode. The same was not true for Alexander Siddig. He may have been the father, but that was no excuse for missing call times.

Visitor remembered that this was one of the few times she remembered Siddig being truly upset. Django was born at night, though Siddig was still expected to arrive on time for make-up in the morning. There was no accommodation for him in moving scenes around.

In several of the book's chapters, Visitor speaks about the lack of help film sets ever offered parents. She recalled one producer saying she should have considered call times before choosing to become a parent, rather than offering any aid or advice for childcare. It was, evidently, a brutal industry for parents at the time.
