Star Trek: 10 Biggest Takeaways From Open A Channel: A Woman's Trek

4. Marina Sirtis Chose Not To Take Part

Marina Sirtis is one of the notable exceptions from the interview list for Open A Channel. Visitor specifically highlights the fact that, rather than being unable to contact Sirtis, the latter chose not to take part in the project.

Though the book then continues apace, Visitor was interviewed by Conner Trinneer and Dominic Monaghan on the D-Con Chamber podcast, where she gave the reason behind Sirtis's refusal. According to Visitor, Sirtis refused on the grounds she was tired of other people making money from her story.

This highlights the fact that Hollywood is, and will always be, a business. When a work like this comes along, we as fans are delighted (and sometimes saddened) by the stories that are revealed. Saying that, it is and will always be peoples' livelihoods as well. Sirtis's refusal to take part seems a business decision, and one must remember that we the audience aren't entitled to these stories. It is a shame not to hear her words directly in the book, but one can certainly understand her decision.
