Star Trek Deep Space Nine Cast: Where Are They Now?

13. Garak - Andrew Robinson

Elim Garak Star Trek Deep Space Nine
CBS

Elim Garak remains one of the most interesting recurring characters on any of the Star Trek series, thanks in large part to the wonderful performance by Andrew Robinson. Introduced early in the series, he appeared in many episodes throughout the show's run.

He originally auditioned for Odo but secured Garak instead. He kept a character bible throughout the series, using it to frame and then fully compose the novel A Stitch In Time once the show finished. The novel chronicles not just the aftermath of the Dominion War, but expands on Garak's early life as well. However, this was not his first audition for Star Trek, as he had auditioned for the role of Decker in The Motion Picture.

He was very close to his cast mates and is in fact godfather to Nana Visitor and Alexander Siddig's child, Django. He and Siddig also collaborated on a stage play entitled The Dream Box, which they often perform together at conventions.

He was recently interviewed for the behind the scenes look at the making of the '80s horror film Hellraiser, wherein he had played the father of the original lead character. Prior to Deep Space Nine, he would have been widely recognised as the Scorpio Killer, from 1971's Dirty Harry.

A highly affable man, he seems to throw himself into as many projects with good heart as possible. He was one of the first backers of What We Left Behind and provides a narration thread throughout, using his instantly recognisable voice to both chill and intrigue.
