Star Trek: Lower Decks 2.4 Review - Ups & Downs From Mugato, Gumato

7. Otis The Barman - UP

Star Trek Lower Decks Otis
CBS

Otis needs to be a recurring character in Star Trek: Lower Decks. We didn't realise just how much we needed him until we saw him here. Dressed in the same getup as Ben the bartender from the Next Generation episode Lower Decks, he seems perfectly primed to be the bearer of secrets to the rest of the crew. When Rutherford and Boimler arrive in the mess hall covered with bumps, bruises, and scrapes from their run-in with Mariner, he proceeds to tell them that she's black ops.

Though they initially don't believe him, Otis begins, in that wonderful Maine accent, to fill them in on this theorising - so much so that it begins to take root in the boys' brains. They leave when their drinks have been refilled, but not before he manages to arouse their suspicions in their friend.

They then miss the roar that Otis's manager sends his way, barking at him to get back to work and stop bothering the customers. It's a properly laugh out loud funny scene.

UP - we need more Otis, or we're going to riot.
