Supernatural: 10 Perfect Episodes
1. Swan Song
The final that was never meant to be, Swan Song carried the most critical task of finishing the Kripke era and ending the Lucifer story for good (or so we thought). It had everything fans wanted; humour, tragedy, suspense, and drama, which put hardcore and casual fans to the test. As the episode's heartbreaking finale approaches, we witness both our heroes lose all hope when Lucifer takes control of Sam's body, refusing to jump into the pit.
After seeing Lucifer kill both Castiel and Bobby, and seeing Dean beaten to a pulp, it seemed like the archangel had finally won, with the Winchester family, plus all of humanity doomed. In a last-minute twist, Sam was able to regain his strength and jumped into the Hell pit, carrying Lucifer inside him and bringing the archangel Michael (who was possessing Adam, their half-brother) with them.
At the end of the episode, we see a heartbroken Dean reunite with his former flame Lisa Braeden, hinting that he's keeping the promise he made to Sam that he'll settle down and live a normal life. Swan Song was the first episode that indicated that Chuck could be God. After he mysteriously disappeared into a puff of smoke, Chuck was never seen again until season 10's Fan Fiction.
