7. Butcher Is Living On Borrowed Time

In Season 3, Butcher started taking an experimental compound called V24 to give him temporary superpowers to help his war with the Supes.

Even though this was a major story arc of Season 3, it was no surprise. Because The Boys regularly took V in the comics, fans expected this element to be incorporated into the show eventually. Also, the trailers made no secret that Butcher's unconventional methods to "level the playing field" would play a huge part of this season.

But what we did not expect were the side effects of V24. When Starlight discovered the compound produced lethal brain tumours in anyone who ingested it between 3-5 times, she warned Butcher of the danger it posed. Despite taking the drug four times at this point, Butcher ignored Starlight, and doped up again to help him fight Homelander.

When he was taken to a hospital shortly after, he learned the drug had already begun deteriorating his brain and would inevitably kill him. Although Butcher's future is bleak, there is one thing that's certain - Whether he or not he gets the chance to kill Homelander, he won't have much time to celebrate it.
