The Simpsons: 10 Awesome Things You Forgot Ever Happened
7. The Inventions That Became Real - Various Episodes
Many zany inventions have appeared throughout The Simpsons, including radio controlled planes for infants, the acid shooting ray, and the runaway house.
More often than not, these devices are in the show to serve as a gag. Other times, the episode's entire plot centres around these doohickeys. Whatever their purpose, one would assume these inventions could never be real. (I mean, who's going to purchase a runaway house??)
However, there are many contraptions devised in The Simpsons that now exist including Smart Watches, farm simulators, baby translators, airplane restaurants, and stores tailored for left-handed customers.
What's more bizarre is how there are several intentionally ridiculous inventions on The Simpsons that are now a part of our reality. Do you remember the 3D printed cakes in the show? You can buy one of them right now. Remember the blood-dripping billboards used to advertise The Itchy & Scratchy Movie?
Such billboards have been used in Australia to warn careless drivers. When you revisit old episodes, it's surreal to see these gizmos, which we once regarded as fantastical, are now an everyday appliance.
For all we know, there could be more preposterous Simpsons gadgets that may exist in the future. For all we know, someone is patenting the makeup gun or the couch toilet right this second.
