Nick Diaz hasn't fought since January of 2015 when he took on Anderson Silva at UFC 183. However, following a sit-down interview with Ariel Helwani this month, the former Strikeforce champ is making plenty of headlines.

Though the elder Diaz brother was difficult to follow during the now infamous interview, there were still several interesting takeaways.

The Stockton native declared that he was, in fact, the real BMF champ. He also had some stern words for the reigning titleholder, Jorge Masvidal. Apparently, Nick Diaz didn't take kindly to some of the remarks Masvidal directed toward his younger brother Nate, following their UFC 244 showdown.

Despite the fact that the reclusive star stated he had no wish to come out of retirement, the interview helped generate plenty of buzz for a potential showdown between Nick Diaz and Jorge Masvidal.

Moreover, since the sit-down with Helwani, reports have surfaced that indicate the 36-year-old seemed to have a change of heart, and it would appear he plans to resume his fighting career in the near future. If so, Masvidal would seem to be the most likely opponent.

By the time Nick Diaz could realistically return, he will have been out of action for over five years. In truth, it's impossible to predict what he'll look like inside the Octagon after such a lengthy layoff. That being said, regardless of the outcome, by simply taking part in an interview, Nick Diaz has set himself up for a very lucrative comeback fight in 2020.
