Title: WWE Universal Championship

Dates of Title Defenses: April 27, 2018 – August 19, 2018

Days Between Defenses: 115

Now, we fast-forward to the end of Brock Lesnar’s record-setting WWE Universal Championship run.

Brock inexplicably defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34 despite all signs pointing to Reigns finally getting his crowning achievement. Then WWE pulled the rug out from under Roman again when Lesnar won a steel cage match for the title at Greatest Royal Rumble (the infamous bout where both tumbled through the cage, but Brock’s feet his the floor first).

After that, Lesnar disappeared for three months before he and Paul Heyman agreed to return to put the title up for grabs at SummerSlam, making it nearly four months between title defense. There, Roman Reigns overcame the odds (Braun Strowman was ringside with his Money in the Bank briefcase) to capture the title – and be rewarded with a showering of boos.

Thus ended a 504-day title reign in which Brock defended the title seven times, an average of 72 days between title defenses.
