10 Major Stars Who Weren’t At WWE SummerSlam 2019 (Even Though They Should Have Been)
1. Daniel Bryan
That brings us nicely to the person considered by many to be the most likely suspect in the 'who tried to kill Roman Reigns' saga: Daniel Bryan. The former WWE Champion was already at the top of many fans' lists before last week's edition of SmackDown Live and, following that broadcast, he undoubtedly shot straight to the top of everyone else's.
Like Reigns, he featured in the closing segment of the go home show when, upon Buddy Murphy's revelation that his partner in crime (Rowan) made an appearance during Roman's scaffolding incident, he looked incredibly sheepish and, dare we say it, a little concerned.
Of course, it seems to imply that the former 'Yes! Man' and his henchman had something to do with Roman's attacks and, given that such a bombshell was dropped right before SummerSlam, you would have been forgiven for expecting him to respond at the Biggest Party of the Summer.
Then there's the fact that he's Daniel freakin' Bryan and should have been featured at the event in some capacity anyway. This, again, goes back to the problem of having multiple major stars involved in an angle that the-powers-that-be bafflingly decided to exclude from SummerSlam - it robs all of the fans of seeing not one, not two but three major stars in action.
What was the point in creating all that suspense in the run-up to the marquee event, only to have Rowan attack Murphy on the kickoff show? We know Bryan was in the building, couldn't he have made an appearance to address the accusations?
To think we almost had Bryan vs. Reigns and instead we got, well, nothing.
