10 Most Absurd Movies Starring WWE Wrestlers
7. Suburban Commando
Hello again, Mr. Hogan. We meet again.
While the campy and ludicrous presentation of No Holds Barred certainly didn't make the Hulkster look like a movie star, it was at least grounded in some form of reality. Suburban Commando attempts to do the same, but the Sci-Fi roots and bonkers premise take it a step further than the zany wrestling flick.
The script was originally written for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. However, after the pair opted to make Twins in 1988, the project was purchased by New Line Cinema to accommodate the stardom of Hulk Hogan. Its story centres on an intergalactic warrior named Shep Ramsey, who accidentally crash lands on Earth and is forced to adjust to the customs.
This fish out of water narrative has been done to death, but the cosmic implications and use of goofy visual effects take this one to the next level. There's absurdity galore in this title, as you've got a berserk reptilian creature, a hunt for rare crystals and everything else that gives the Sci-Fi genre its ludicrous reputation, all topped off by the weird presence of Terry 'Hulk' Hogan.
