10 Reasons You Should Be Watching New Japan Pro Wrestling
1. Kazuchika Okada
It’s February, and Kazuchika Okada has already had two match of the year contenders. By now, most of the wrestling world will have seen his battle with Kenny Omega, a match that was so good Dave Meltzer broke his rating system. However, you are less likely to have seen his war with Minoru Suzuki at The New Beginning in Sapporo - a fight which saw Suzuki dissect Okada’s knee in every way imaginable.
At this point, Okada is very much the Ace of New Japan. At only 29 years old, he seems to have it all. A natural athlete, his charisma shines through in his every action. Throw in that Rainmaker finisher, one of the most protected moves in the game, and you are presented with the complete package - a complete package that regularly puts on five-star matches.
2017 is fixing to be one hell of a year for Okada, and it’s hard to see him as anything but one of the top three wrestlers in the world. He also appears to be New Japan's man, so the odds of him popping up on WWE TV anytime soon seem slim.
If you want to witness the Ace of the New Era in action, then it’s time you tuned in.
