Finn Bálor's ascent to the top of the mountain at SummerSlam 2016 should have ushered in a new beginning for Monday Night Raw; in defeating Seth Rollins to become the first ever WWE Universal Champion, the popular Irishman seemed destined to become a crown jewel of Monday nights.

Sadly, a devastating combination of serious injuries left Bálor unable to wrestle, and he who had celebrated so ferociously just 24 hours before then had to vacate the new belt on Raw. Shortly afterwards, it was Kevin Owens who directly benefited, stealing in after Bálor's misfortune had been aired to become the new champ.

This summer must be one of vindication for 'The Demon', because WWE can't let what they almost had last year slip through their fingers completely. Undoubtedly deserving of another shot at the main event mix, the high-flying Bálor should become Universal Champion again and go on to have a lengthy reign.

Of course, things do move quickly in WWE and even moments of sentiment are often forgotten, but Finn's tale of redemption should be integral to Raw's summer.
