10 Times WWE Failed To Pass The Torch
4. The Undertaker To Roman Reigns (WrestleMania 33)
Roman Reigns finds his way onto this list for the second (and sadly not the last) time and whoever thought that this would actually go down well as the event ending match of WrestleMania 33 needed a serious reality check.
Reigns had been as divisive as ever throughout 2016/17 and when he eventually heaved The Undertaker over the top rope in the Royal Rumble match, fans braced themselves for the inevitable 'Mania programme that was to follow.
The Big Dog had successfully proven that he could carry himself as a main event star during his feuds with AJ Styles and Braun Strowman. Yet fans still couldn't accept him as the new shining light of the company and regularly audibly rejected his presence near the top of the card.
Despite this obvious fan response, McMahon stubbornly pushed on and felt as though a match centred around whose 'yard' this actually was would pop the crowd on the night and help fans accept that 'The Deadman' was symbolically leaving his locker room leader spot open for Reigns to step into.
It failed miserably and the 'Mania audience wholeheartedly rejected Reigns' victory and instead of him being positioned as the new leader of WWE he was jeered more than ever before - highlighted in his ten minute straight reception of boos at the hands of the Raw after 'Mania crowd.
