Relishing in the majesty of a summer that had transformative qualities on a significantly stale product, SummerSlam 2016 was the best of the new brand split and the still-fresh NXT talent that had been injected over the prior 12 months.

Outside of the epic Women's Title match between Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch, virtually everything at WrestleMania 32 had been missable, but the 'Biggest Party Of The Summer' couldn't have felt any more crucial.

AJ Styles and John Cena tore the house down in a loyal replication of Styles' best IWGP Title defences a few years earlier, whilst fellow former NJPWer Finn Bálor's bittersweet Universal Title victory over Seth Rollins only looked like the latter in the heat of battle.
