5 Ups & 5 Downs For WWE Raw (29 Sept - Results & Review)
3. Dirty Dom Weasels Way To Victory
Dominik Mysterio might not be Eddie Guerrero’s son, but he certainly will channel Uncle Eddie whenever possible, especially when it comes to holding onto his Intercontinental Championship.
Dirty Dom faced the tall task of dealing with an irate Rusev on his own and looked overmatched at the outset. He managed to squeeze in some offense, including a pair of 619s to put the Bulgarian Brute on the defensive, but Rusev regained control and seemed to be on the cusp of his first title since returning to WWE.
That’s when Mysterio grabbed his two titles and walloped Rusev when the referee’s back was turned. When Rusev shrugged it off, Dom did his best Eddie routine, tossing the title to his challenger – in full view of the ref. Mysterio would manage to get a Ric Flair-esque mule kick, though, and roll Rusev up with the tights to hold onto his title… for at least another week. It’s safe to say that Rusev won’t let this stand.
As a match, this was short (less than nine minutes) and didn’t get boring. The ga-ga was entertaining enough, and Rusev didn’t look like a geek getting tripped up by a bumbling Dominik.
