WWE WrestleMania 42: 20 Things That NEED To Happen

19. John Cena’s Hosting Gig Has A Point

Generally, WWE's "guest host" spot at 'Mania is a waste of time. It's the actual announcement of who's filling the role itself that gets the interest. After that, nothing of note ever really happens. Well, unless you're New Day revealing the return of The Hardys back in 2017 at 33, that is. Hey, maybe John Cena will get to do something cool like that.

If the recently retired great is only there to open each night and yell, “Welcome to WrestleMania!” then forget it. However, if Cena is in the house to do something sweet like hand over a title/some titles with a delighted/disgusted look on his face depending on who the new champ is, then count this writer in.

The last thing either night needs is some of the crummy rubbish Hulk Hogan, Titus O’Neil and others did a few years back. Nah, we don’t need endless talking head segments that offer sod all to the pomp and circumstance of WWE's biggest PLE. People would rather watch another match than hear the host gush over how wonderful WrestleMania is.

Realistically, Cena wouldn't be all that awestruck by the opportunity anyway. If anything, it'll be a melancholy affair for him because he was working these shows in 2025. Also, good luck to John if he's pushed out there to inflate the attendance figures and spare TKO's blushes due to their utterly ridiculous pricing strategy - neither night in Las Vegas is even close to selling out at time of writing.

A 'Mania III inspired whopper of a lie incoming? Could be, but just give Cena something worthwhile please.
