10 Underrated X-Men Characters Marvel Should Totally Be Using

1. Adam X The X-Treme

Bet you weren’t expecting that one. The most nineties of nineties X-Men, and yes, that is even including any character with an absurd amount of patches and giant guns about their person, Adam X (the X-Treme, you really have to include that) is perhaps the most of its time kind of character imaginable.

Ultimately, all Adam X wound up being was a crazy design and absurd powerset (he can ignite the oxygen in another person’s blood… because just how bloody nineties is that!), but there were plans to have him be so much more. In fact, creators Fabian Nicieza (he who was co-behind Deadpool) and Jeff Johnson had intended him to be the third Summers brother, sibling to Cyclops and Havok, and son of Kate Summers and Shi’ar Emperor D’Ken. Of course, that never came to be on the page, and a new third Summers brother was later introduced, Vulcan.

So there’s this character out there with a really striking (though now a little dated) design, with a crazy bizarre powerset and the barest bones of a backstory that already makes him really interesting with a foot in both the mutant and cosmic worlds of Marvel.

He’s a character that could become literally anything, and all he needs is a bit of creative backstory and a refresh in the design department. And hey, the nineties are kinda in again, right?
