2. Pretty Much Everything He Did In Civil War
Civil War is among the most famous of all Marvel stories, and the comic book conflict stems from Iron Man and Reed Richard’s support of the Superhero Registration Act, with Captain America (and later Spider-Man) opposing.
Although the run aimed to present both sides as equally compelling, most people fell in line with Captain America’s views on freedom in anonymity, rather than Starks borderline totalitarian approach to super-heroics. Despite the murky morality of the principle issue however, throughout the run Iron Man did some straight up terrible things.
Alongside Reed Richards he created Prison 42 in the negative zone, a nigh inescapable prison for the superpowered political opponents who dared to cross him. He aggressively manipulated Spider-Man into revealing his identity to the public, jeopardizing Aunt May and Peter’s friends in the process, and lied to him and tracked his actions through the Iron Spider Suit. He also sought to unite the warring factions by initiating another war with Atlantis, seeking to push tensions to breaking point to force all the peoples to come together under his rule to wage war against Namor.
Of course, by going after Captain America he had a significant hand in the events that wound up leading to Steve Rogers’ death. All in all, not a very chill time for Stark, but he has done even worse...
