There was a wave of excitement around the club when Barcelona announced they had come to terms on a deal to bring Brazilian youngster, Keirrison, to the Nou Camp.

His form in Brazil had been superb, with spells at both Cortiba and Palmeiras yielding an excellent goalscoring return. Understandably, he was being hailed as the next big thing to come out of Brazil when he made the jump to Europe back in 2009.

The Brazilian was joining a squad which had a younger Lionel Messi about to enter his best years, while Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were also among the striking options for Barcelona.

However, Keirrison never made any impact whatsoever for the club, failing to make an appearance as he was immediately loaned out to Benfica and then Fiorentina.

Both spells failed to bring any success as managers of both clubs failed to put any trust in the youngster's talents.

Keirrison found himself back in Brazil with first club, Cortiba, and never hit the heights of his initial spell with the club as a career which promised so much ultimately fell flat.
