After impressing for a number of seasons for Arsenal in the Premier League, Barcelona made the move to bring Cameroon star Song to the Nou Camp.

His play as a defensive midfielder and all-action style had impressed onlookers, and despite not being a glamour signing as such, he was seen at the time as someone who could come into the Barcelona team and give their flair players license to roam.

Unfortunately for Song, he failed to settle in the midfield for the Spanish giants, and ultimately never got into the sort of form he showed at Arsenal.

Sergio Busequets had emerged and made the defensive midfield slot his own, while he was never going to have the quality to replace the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta.

A loan move back to the Premier League with West Ham followed, before a move to Russia, and then eventually a transfer to Swiss side FC Sion pretty much summed up Song's time since leaving the Gunners.
