6. Matt Kuchar

He may have only reached as high as five in the world rankings but since 2009, there may not have been a more consistent player than Matt Kuchar.

Like Luke Donald though, the American has never finished higher than third position at a major tournament but it's one of the few things missing from an otherwise excellent career.

Between 2010 and 2012, he recorded top-10 finishes in seven of the nine World Golf Championship events that he entered before he finally won at the Match Play in Arizona. Kuchar has also won high-profile competitions such as The Players Championship and The Barclays but his ability has not been rewarded in the majors.

He deserves credit for finishing three consecutive Masters tournaments inside the top 10 and he has finished in the same bracket at the other three events too, although a statistic that does not get much attention is his 18 top-30 finishes in 25 attempts.

The 38-year-old has gone almost a year without a top-five placing on the PGA Tour but while he remains a playing professional, he will always have a chance of glory.
